The Power To Be International
Mission Overview and Strategic Objective
This report provides a comprehensive evaluation of the humanitarian relief operations conducted by PowerToBe International following the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Melissa in October 2025. Guided by our mission to empower and restore vulnerable communities, The Power To Be International mobilized a multi-phase response strategy designed to transition from immediate life-saving aid to long-term infrastructural resilience.
We remain deeply grateful to our global network of donors and partners who enabled this vital work. For ongoing transparency and updates on our community initiatives, please visit our official website at www.thepowertobe.org.

Logistics Impact: Deployment of six high-capacity relief barrels containing food, medical supplies, household essentials and clothing.
Geographic Reach: Clarendon, St. Elizabeth, and Westmoreland.
Infrastructural Commitment: Over $10,000 dedicated to rebuilding homes, educational and healthcare facilities.
Strategic Partnerships: Collaborations with corporate leaders, academic institutions, and long-term local stakeholders.
Financial Synthesis: Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
The success of this relief drive was predicated on a dual-stream fundraising model that engaged both the grassroots community and corporate sectors.
-
General Community Campaign: The Power To Be utilized Zeffy (zeffy.com) as our primary digital fundraising platform, enabling secure, efficient mobilization of individual contributions from our global community.
-
Corporate Partnership (Allstate Canada): Through a staff-initiated engagement spearheaded by June Watson, Power To Be established a strategic partnership with Allstate Canada. This collaboration featured a matching-gift model in which the corporation matched employee donations exceeding $100, effectively amplifying the impact of individual contributions.
Phase I: Emergency Relief and Immediate Response (November 2025)
Clarendon Distribution
In the immediate wake of the storm, The Power To Be moved with urgency to address the acute scarcity of essentials in Clarendon, Jamaica. Partnering with a dedicated Toronto-based logistics partner, Powerfilled Youth, the organization coordinated the shipment of three barrels of emergency supplies, including non-perishable food items.
Logistics during this phase focused on:
-
Nutritional Security: Non-perishable food items were prioritized, as food was identified as the most critical immediate need.
-
Essential Goods: Distribution of clothing and household items to families who suffered significant property loss.
Phase II: Rural Community Outreach and Faculty Partnership (December 2025)
In December 2025, Power To Be fortified its outreach to hard-to-reach rural areas through a strategic partnership with staff at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Faculty of Law. Under the leadership of Marjorie Henry, we integrated our resources with UWI staff already active on the ground in St. Elizabeth Parish.
This collaboration allowed for a sophisticated delivery of over $3,000 in funding and direct services, focusing on:
-
Survival and Shelter: Provision of survival packs and critical building materials to facilitate immediate home repairs.
-
Vulnerable Demographics: Targeted distribution of food and clothing specifically curated for children, ensuring the parish’s youth were protected during the recovery process.
Phase III: Sustained Support and Western Island Distribution (June 2026)
Following the initial emergency interventions, The Power To Be transitioned into a phase of sustained recovery. This six-month interval allowed the organization to assess secondary needs and provide a second wave of support to Western Jamaica in June 2026.
Focusing on churches and schools as community anchors, The Power To Be delivered two additional barrels containing:
-
Health and Hygiene: A significant supply of diapers and household sanitation items.
-
Continued Subsistence: Sustained provisions of non-perishable foods and clothing to help families maintain stability.
Phase IV: Infrastructure Rebuilding and Healthcare Support
To ensure a lasting legacy of resilience, Power To Be International leveraged its 15-year partnership with The Rotary Club of Negril to spearhead major reconstruction efforts. This phase focused on restoring critical community pillars—education and healthcare.
Strategic Fund Allocation (Over $8,000 Total)
