We are a registered charitable organization, dedicated to the development and maintenance of positive youth communities.

As a grassroots, black-led organization, we focus on using a collaborative development approach of working with BIPOC communities to assist in meeting their specified priorities while providing quality education, leadership, and mental health programs for children and youth.

Kisha McPherson

is a co-founder and director of The Power to Be International. Kisha is an assistant professor at Toronto Metropolitan University (formally Ryerson University) with an academic concentration on media, equity, and social justice education. Kisha has a passion for working towards the development of youth through non-traditional civic engagement as well as equity-based education and leadership initiatives.

Lyn Williams

is a co-founder and director of The Power to Be International. Lyn works in the field of child and adolescent health care and leads the development of PTBI's skill-building and mental health programs.  The driving force behind the development of The Power to Be International is her passion to provide opportunities to empower and inspire young people to strive for their fullest potential.  Lyn s dedicated to the development of compassionate future leaders, who will govern their life decisions from a globally conscious perspective.

Andrea Muir

works as an administrator at one of our college partners and has served as project lead on several projects including our infrastructure builds since 2012.  As a volunteer member of PTBI, she managed our Service Learning projects in Jamaica.  Having worked at a college for many years, Andrea knows the importance of higher education and is passionate about supporting youth to achieve their full potential through education.
