Student Volunteer

Service learning

Student volunteers work with professional volunteers and community partners to plan and implement all aspects of a summer literacy and leadership camp for children.

This program has two components, which focus on different aspects of child and youth development with a literacy and leadership focus. The two components include Literacy (6 to 11 years old), Leadership (12 to 16 years old specific to gender).

Students gain various skills including lesson planning, classroom management, and workshop and lesson facilitation skills throughout their volunteer placement. Student volunteers are also responsible for arts and recreational camp activities.
